Abstract
Objective: The aim of validating the professional competency model for emergency medical technicians is to ensure the quality and effectiveness of services provided in this field. An accurate evaluation of the performance of emergency medical technicians can play a significant role in enhancing the preparedness of technicians and improving public health. The professional competency evaluation model for emergency medical technicians was developed and approved in 2023 using international models and the opinions of domestic experts. Ultimately, this initiative will contribute to improving the quality of emergency medical services.
Method: In this validation study, a questionnaire consisting of 47 indicators across 18 subdimensions and 5 main dimensions (knowledge, skill, characteristics, ability, attitude) was designed based on the professional competency evaluation model. The opinions of 15 emergency medical specialists were used to assess validity. The statistical population consisted of 1,523 employees of the country Emergency Organization, from which 307 individuals were selected as the sample. Data was collected using a questionnaire and analyzed through structural equation modeling (SEM) in PLS3 software. Findings: Based on the content validity results, all indicators were approved by specialists. The examination of model fit indices indicates that the structural model possesses suitable fit status. According to the findings, there is a significant relationship between the dimensions of ability, knowledge, skills, attitudes, and characteristics with the professional competency of emergency medical personnel. The impact of the skill dimension scored 18/136, and ability 9/618.  These findings can contribute to optimizing training models for technicians and improving the quality of emergency medical services.
Results: Validating the professional competency model for emergency medical technicians is a necessary process for improving service quality and enhancing expertise in this field. This initiative leads to greater efficiency in emergency services and strengthens the healthcare system.
